Letter: Stoplights and AI

97

I read the publishers rant on AI and the opinion of David Rose on a stop light in Ferndale. Both are right on.

It got me to thinking, wouldn’t it make sense in a whole number of ways to have AI Stop lights at all intersections. It would be good for the environment and move traffic much more safely. Think how much pollution occurs with the millions of cars every moment sitting at stop lights with no traffic in the oncoming lanes, or how about the deceleration and acceleration for a needless stop light or for that matter stop sign. I wonder if there are any statistics on these.

I look forward to the future and the improvement AI will make for our daily lives.

Perhaps a NBP student will someday invent the AI Stop light and be the next billionaire.

Just thinking.
