September meetings are always fun! It gets a little noisy in the Legion Hall from the visiting and laughter as we reunite. As always, we enjoyed the dinner prepared by the Legion Ladies but our dessert was extra special because it was Dannah Oliver’s birthday, so they baked a cake for us to help Dannah celebrate.
Dannah started with the original Lioness group back in February of 1979 and when I was checking on that date, I enjoyed seeing the names of the other ladies that started that group. It took me back in time, but there isn’t enough space to list them out in this article. One thing for sure is that Dannah is the only person on the list that is still a part of the SWANS. Way to go Dannah, 47 years of volunteering with Lioness and SWANS!
We had a very long agenda to cover to make plans for several events this fall but it went surprisingly fast.
Treasurer Bev Miller made a donation of $500.00 to the fund for the fire victims at the Bradley H. Davis Apartments in Tobermory that happened earlier this summer. The fund was initiated and is managed by The Meeting Place. Thanks to The Meeting Place for taking such a caring effort to support the residents.
Our Club also decided to donate $200.00 to member Kris Matheson for the Terry Fox Run on September 20th. Thanks to all the participants in this very important fundraiser!
