The preservation of the Ferndale Schoolhouse and its repurposing as the Red Schoolhouse Gallery is a testament to our community’s dedication to honoring its history while fostering a bright future for local artists.

Guest artist Elaine Doy has been happily painting on Georgian Bay and the Bruce Peninsula for 25 years. Her award-winning works can be found in private and corporate collections across Canada, the U.S. and the U.K. She is a member of the Bruce Peninsula Society of Artists (BPSA) and an Exhibiting Member of the Federation of Canadian Artists. Elaine says, “Everything in life inspires me. If it touches my soul, I have to paint it.”

While she lives in Caledon, guest artist Mary Gore spends as much time as possible in Barrow Bay. The Peninsula has been in her family’s hearts for almost a century. The rocks, water, shorelines and cliffs, in all their moods and seasons, inspired Mary to paint as a teenager. She started in watercolours and also enjoys painting in acrylics. Her BPSA membership connects Mary with the ‘art scene’ and all that encompasses on the Saugeen Bruce.

During July and August, the gallery is open every Thursday to Monday from 11am to 5pm.
