Happenings at Lion’s Head Legion Branch 202

Submitted by Sharron Colter,
Secretary and Public Relations Officer

The Lion’s Head Legion is preparing for elections for the May 1, meeting. Rob Burchart Zone C-4 Commander will be in attendance. Members are encouraged to attend, to nominate and to vote. The Legion needs members to let their name stand for a position. There is support available to learn more about each position on the executive. The legion executive and members meet on the first Thursday of each month. A full executive is needed in order to continue the work of the legion related to the Lion’s Head and area community outreach for the benefit of the veterans, their family and community members.

The Royal Canadian Legions in every community continue the remembrance of the veterans who fought for our freedom. More now than ever we realize how fragile peace and freedom can be. Volunteer at your legion to keep your community strong and active in helping others, to participate in the Remembrance Day activities, to help at the special dinners and functions to support ongoing monthly expenses and maintenance and to benefit yourself in meeting new people and learning new information.

For fun, the legion continues darts on Mondays and Thursdays at 1:00 p.m. except the first Thursday. Cribbage is also played on Thursdays at 1:00 p.m. The Bruce Men’s Shed meets on Monday mornings for coffee. All are welcome to drop in to have coffee. On Tuesday mornings the men meet for hobby scale model building.

Contact Gerry Tilmans for more information about the Bruce Men’s Shed at 519-793-3005 or brucemensshed@gmail.ca.

The Old Schoolhouse Seniors will meet on the first Tuesday for lunch and the last Tuesday for dinner. More information will be available in April.

Join the Ladies Auxiliary to help with their work in the community.

More volunteers are needed to continue this valuable work.

50/50 Lottery Draw tickets licensed by the NB Municipality are available at Rachel’s Restaurant, The Shops at 84 Main and By the Bay in Pike Bay, or at the Legion for $1.00 each. Proceeds of the draw are returned to community groups. The draw takes place at the Legion meeting on the first Thursday of the month. If you are the winner you will be notified by a phone call.
