It’s that time of year again, the Lion’s Head Hospital Auxiliary (LHHA) Annual Yard Sale. Its popularity grows year over year and enquiries started being made several months ago about the date. For some the Yard Sale initiates the start of their summer. Many include this annual event as a Must Do excursion.

So, let’s put you out of your misery. This year’s sale happens Saturday, July 5th from 8 am until 1 pm, and Sunday, July 6th from 10 am until 12 noon at the Lion’s Head Arena on Tackabury St.

As always, donations can be dropped off the day before, Friday, July 4th from 8 am until 12 noon at the back of the Lion’s Head Arena. Unfortunately, we are unable to store or pick up donations. We simply don’t have the storage space. We do have a list of items we cannot accept for health or safety reasons. Please be kind and ensure that you don’t bring any of these items. A full list appears at the end of this article.

This year’s constantly changing economic outlook seems like an excellent time to shop at LHHA Yard Sale. Absolutely no tariffs and bargains galore. Reusing, renewing, and repurposing goods seems like an excellent yet old-fashioned idea. Maybe our parents, grandparents and great grandparents (depends on how old you are right now as to how far back you go) had some great strategies for living well. What better way to embrace that philosophy than donating items you no longer need or use.

Whether you donate, purchase or a bit of both, you also ensure that the LHHA can fundraise for the purpose of purchasing equipment for our local hospital. Did you know that every dollar we raise goes towards keeping health care close to home? That’s 100% of the dollars you contribute goes for the intended purpose.

Are you ready to become an adherent to the renew, reuse, repurpose generation? Then mark your calendars, donations Friday, July 4th, sale Saturday, July 5th and Sunday July 6th. See you in July. Thank you for your amazing support.

And now the list of items we cannot accept. We aren’t trying to be difficult, truly we aren’t, but we must consider health and safety.

Mattresses, propane or gasoline tanks, knives of any description (that includes kitchen and sporting), weapons (of any kind), baby cribs or car seats, computers including monitors and keyboards, televisions, clothing and shoes and boots (we do hold a separate clothing drive in early autumn, please hold on to donations until then), sleeper lounges due to the mattresses, major appliances and exercise equipment such as treadmills, stationary bikes or rowing machines.

And now it’s time to start looking through your sheds, garages, basements and storage spaces. Clean up, clean out and contribute to your community. We thank you for your donations and ask that you adhere to our list of items we can’t accept.
