Spring has finally vanquished winter and that means the Lion’s Head Hospital Auxiliary’s (LHHA) spring/summer fundraising events are underway.
The Perennials Plant Sale occurs this year on Saturday, June 6 at the grassy area between the arena in Lion’s Head and the Friendship Centre. Some perennials are starting to emerge from their winter slumber so we are currently organizing our crew to dig up, divide and pot perennials to sell at the sale.
Have some you’d like to donate? That would be fabulous. Of course, it always helps to know what it is we’re selling so it would be wonderful if you can identify what it is that is sprouting. If you have perennials you would like to donate please contact our Perennial Plant Sale convenor, Linda Holden at lmholden32@gmail.com or any LHHA member that you know.
Of course, the first fundraiser of our year is the Fish Fry to be held at the Lion’s Head arena May 16. You can eat in or take out but it is essential that you buy tickets in advance. Last year we sold out.
The meal consists of fish, baked potatoes, veggies, coleslaw, a roll, dessert, and tea, coffee or lemonade. The price is $26 per person, $13 for children 12 and under. For those wanting an adult beverage, a cash bar will be sponsored by the Rotary Club of Northern Bruce Peninsula. Live music will be provided by Blue Sky Day.
Tickets are available at Scott’s Hardware (Lion’s Head 519-793-3446), Walsh’s Garage (Hwy. 6 519-793-4625), Susan Hellyer (519-374-5778), Susan Lyons (Verna’s in Tobermory 519-596-2351) and Sandy Walsh (519-270-6978).
Don’t miss out on an opportunity to have someone else prepare dinner and have all profits fund Lion’s Head hospital’s equipment needs, a win-win for everyone.
The long weekend in May also brings the reopening of the LHHA Used Bookstore located at the bottom level of Christ Church in Lion’s Head, 55 Main Street. The selection is always changing and the cost is whatever you want to donate. Time to stock up on your summer reading.
The other major fundraiser is the annual Yard Sale, which occurs this year Saturday, July 4 and Sunday, July 5. More details will become available in future issues. People have already started requesting the date so it is a safe bet that the Annual Yard Sale is making its way onto numerous schedules.
As always, the LHHA thanks this amazing community for its support. We are in this together.
