The Tobermory Health Services Auxiliary (THSA) are happy to announce two new members to the Executive Committee. Rick Caron, THSA’s new Treasurer, obtained his Bachelors, Masters, and PhD degrees in Mathematics from the University of Waterloo. Rick is a founding director and the inaugural president of the Canadian World Education Foundation and he and his wife Wendy retired to Tobermory in 2023 and are becoming involved in the local community. Rick is also the treasurer of the Tobermory Food Bank.
We also welcome Carol Solursh as Vice-President. Prior to relocating to Tobermory, Carol, and her husband Gerry lived in Thornbury where she played an active role bringing refugee families to the community and assisting in their acclimation to Canadian life. Carol coordinated and cooked for a weekly community lunch, bringing healthy food to people from all walks of life. She delights in people, dogs, hiking and food and brings extensive volunteer experience to the THSA.
While we are thrilled to have Rick and Carol on board, it is a bittersweet moment for us as Judy Wilson steps down as Past-President, Jace Weir steps aside as Treasurer and Rob Davis now assumes the role of Past President. Rob will be a mentor to Lin Gitterman who has agreed to the role of President following her tenure as VP. Lin brings a wide range of knowledge regarding health services and volunteerism to the THSA. She will be relying on Rob’s experience with the Tobermory community to help her move forward in her new role.
The THSA is actively welcoming new members and, if you are interested in joining a dynamic team or volunteering for special initiatives, Lin can be reached via email at lingitterman@gmail.com. Lin is also available to answer any questions about some exciting ventures for the upcoming year.
Please join us for the Chi-Cheemaun Weekend Pancake Breakfast at the Tobermory Community Center Saturday June 14th starting 7:30am. We’d love to discuss any ideas you think that we should undertake for the health of our North Bruce community that fits our mandate and are looking forward to an exciting year.
For upcoming events, please follow our Facebook page https://www.facebook.com/groups/thsa.ca or go to our website thsa.ca. We will see you there!
