June has proven to be a very busy month, as there was a flurry of pickups and deliveries of the planters. All have been now been delivered. Keep tuned to this station for the final tallies in our next article.

We were asked if we could meet at a Pike Bay boathouse (that had doubled as a workshop) to help ourselves to a few things. We helped remove scrap metal and saved a few great tools for our future workshop. Some of the tools need a bit more than elbow grease to make usable, but we have the skills. Thanks to Debbie Dover of the Pike Bay Community Association for including us. There’s a few great things she collected for the upcoming yard sale July 12th at the Pike Bay Community Centre.

On Saturday June 21 we had an information table at the Sauble Beach Healthy Aging Wellness Day. The event was organized by the Town of South Bruce Peninsula, who had many service groups with informational tables as well. There were seven speakers with excellent topics such as living with dementia, healthy aging, lifelong learning, the power of mindfulness, planning for end of life, bone health, and understanding your support circle. At the breaks there were introductions to other activities that are offered. Above all, a great lunch was provided too. It would be excellent if we could organize an equal opportunity for North Bruce too.

On Thursday June 26 a ribbon cutting ceremony was held at the newly built Harbourside Music stage Stage that is nearly finished. Many volunteers were involved with construction and the result is an extremely well designed and solid structure. We are proud to have been part of this in some small way.

On Tuesday July first, we were one of a number of information and activity booths set up at the Pike Bay Community Park. For a donation kids could assemble a bird feeder or bird house from one of the kits we made this winter. There was a lineup of kids waiting for a chance to hammer them together.
