April 15, 2025 – Bruce Peninsula Hospitals Foundation is thrilled to announce that we have once again surpassed the million-dollar mark in fundraising for local healthcare, thanks to the unwavering support from our donors, service clubs, auxiliaries, municipalities, and corporate sponsors. Together, we have provided crucial funding support to Brightshores Health System Wiarton Hospital, funding the acquisition of a fleet of 10 cardiac monitors, a medication fridge, a bladder scanner, and four beds. Additionally, our donors have generously supported a lab improvement project, a glidescope, an infant warmer, three extra beds, and the upcoming renovation of the shower room—special thanks to Team Wendell—for Brightshores Lion’s Head Hospital.

We have also made substantial contributions to regional care by supporting staff education and addressing priority medical equipment needs, including replacing six cameras for the Urology Department, acquiring patient lifts, and implementing a patient wander system for the Transitional Care Unit. A significant contribution has also been made towards the new CT scanner that will be located at the Brightshores Owen Sound Hospital and will serve patients across Grey Bruce.

“Thanks to the generosity of donors, our healthcare providers are supported with the equipment and tools they need to deliver high-quality care,” said Ann Ford, Brightshores President & CEO. “Your support is truly valued and is making a meaningful difference in the lives of the patients and families we serve.”

“On behalf of our dedicated Board of Directors—Kevin Walsh, Linda Myles-Gallinger, Helen Thomson, Connie Slaughter, Brian Taylor, Ken Russwurm, Ann Iles, Nancy Strang, Paul Sutter, and Laura Lisk—and our talented Foundation Coordinator, Catherine Anderson, we sincerely thank you for your unwavering and generous support. Together, we are keeping outstanding healthcare close to home!” said April Patry, Executive Director of Bruce Peninsula Hospitals Foundation.
