On May 1, 2025 a new executive was elected for 2025 – 2026. The following members were elected:
-Chris Mawdsley, President,
-Gerry Tilmans, 1st Vice-President,
-Don Colter, 2nd Vice-President,
-Adam McCormack, Secretary,
-Karin Webb, Treasurer,
-Executive Committee, Dawn Spence and John Bell.
Brian Reis was appointed Chaplain and Kim White was appointed Sergeant-at-Arms. More appointments will be made at the June meeting. The new executive was congratulated by Rob Butchart Zone C-4 Commander and Steve Rice, Deputy Zone C-4 Commander. There will be a Leadership and Development Seminar in June, held at the Owen Sound Legion for any executive member that would like to attend.
Darts will continue until May 19th. Corn Hole will begin on Thursday June 12th. Anyone can attend as you do not have to be a member to play Corn Hole. Weather permitting Corn Hole will be played outside.
Kim White Nominated as Community Volunteer
Kim White was nominated as a Community Volunteer. He was recognized for the 12 years that he has been the Youth Officer at the Lion’s Head Legion. During this time, Kim has planned, organized, scheduled the judges, signed certificates and presented monetary prizes to the winners of the Remembrance Poster, Essay and Poetry Contest and the Public Speaking Contest. This year Mabel Cameron won first place in public speaking at zone, district and area levels. She will compete at the Ontario Provincial level soon.
Membership to the legion is open all year long. Membership applications are available online.
The legion continues a 50/50 lottery draw each month licensed by the municipality. The proceeds of the lottery are donated back to the community. Some recipients have been the Lion’s Head and District Foodbank, Youth Figure Skating Club, the Lion’s Head Hospital Foundation, and the Public Speaking Contest at Bruce Peninsula District School.
Lottery tickets for $1.00 each are available at Rachel’s Restaurant and The Shops at 84 Main in Lion’s Head, By the Bay in Pike Bay and at the Legion.
