Northern Bruce Peninsula Fire Chief Jack Burt was formally presented with the King Charles III Coronation medal in mid-March by Bruce-Grey-Owen Sound MP Alex Ruff at the Sydenham Campus in Owen Sound. To receive a medal, candidates must “have made a significant contribution to Canada or to a particular province, territory, region or community of Canada, or have made an outstanding achievement abroad that brings credit to Canada.”

Fire Chief Burt has a 26-year career in firefighting and fire advocacy.

“During my 26 years in the fire service, I’ve spent time advocating for fire safety initiatives and spent time on a number of committees helping to write legislation through a fire safety lens and public education.” said Burt. The majority of Chief Burt’s career has been spent in Grey and Bruce Counties.
