Mayor McIver said, “We want to thank you for your commitment and dedication to our volunteer fire service. Being a volunteer is not their regular job, they’re called upon at any time, whether it be Saturday, Sunday, or a statutory holiday, to respond to emergencies in our community, not only to our residents, but to a large number of people visiting the area as well. They are involved in several community events. They are just great community people. You deserve a lot of credit, and we thank you for your service and commitment to our community. Quite often I think ‘thank you’ is hardly enough for our volunteer firefighters.”

Fire Chief Jack Burt said, “These service awards speak to the commitment of the firefighters. The firefighters give up a lot of their time, 20 and 25 years of service takes away time from their families. These awards speak to the credibility and caring that these individuals have for Northern Bruce Peninsula.” To volunteer firefighters, “it’s not about the recognition, they just love helping their community,” said Chief Burt.
