Letter: Why We Love This Place

411

We had braved the blizzard and drove to Ferndale to see for ourselves the barriers indicating closures on highway 6 in both directions.

We pulled over to take a few pictures as two snowmobilers passed by and stopped just ahead. One of the two came back to ask us if we were ok.

As he approached, he noticed that the hood of our car was elevated and not properly engaged, so he pointed that out to us and proceeded to fix it.

Then they continued on their way.

Another time, our car was stuck in the driveway and it was snowing furiously. A neighbour, who we had only met once, noticed our predicament and spent the next hour or so struggling with us to get the car onto the road. Our efforts proved unsuccessful. So he offered to go to his home and return with sand and his truck to finish the task.

And that is why we love this place.
