On a blustery winter night in Tobermory, Ontario, when the snow was blowing from left to right and up and down and sideways, a bright golden shiny sleigh filled with wrapped presents came to a crash landing into a deep snowbank. As the night hours passed and everyone was sleeping, the gifts got blown all over the town. The people from the town awoke and they noticed there were not any presents under their trees.
As the kids woke up and made their way outside to play in the snow, they began to find beautifully wrapped gifts here and there all over the town. The gifts had tags on them and the kids were curious as to who they belonged to. They wanted to find their owners in order to make their holiday more special.
Shane, from Miller Lake, was up in Tobermory with his mom and dad and headed to the school when he heard that there were gifts all over town. He heard from the radio news that a sleigh had crashed in the town where he went to school.
When he got to St. Edmunds Public school, he found the first gift in the sand pit and he took it and delivered it to the owner, Gordon.
When Shane gave Gordon his gift, Gordon felt so very happy that he wanted to help out too. He had his family take him to the tower at the Visitor Centre in town and he found a gift at the very top platform.
On his way home, he delivered it to Evelyn’s house. Evelyn was outside at the time building a snowman and jumped up and down with joy. She was very excited to get her gift and began searching around town. She stumbled across a gift with the name tag, Grayson while shopping at the new Foodland grocery store.
Grayson was excited to get his gift and was quick to find a gift up in one of his trees with the name Bruce. His grandpa drove him down the road to Bruce’s house and dropped off his gift.
Bruce unwrapped it quickly and felt tremendous. He drove up to tour town in search of a gift and found one at the local Museum with a tag that read AJ.
Upon delivering the gift to AJ, he was very excited to be able to open it. While playing with his new toy, AJ found a gift for Faith next to the local bakery and asked his family if he could deliver it to her.
When Faith received the gift, she was happy, so happy and eager to find a gift to continue the chain. She found a gift near her farm animals that had a tag marked for Skylar. She took her snowmobile up the road to deliver the gift for Skylar, who was thrilled to have a gift to open.
Skylar put her boots on and went outside. She looked high and low and found a gift for Emory near the boardwalk at Singing Sands.
Once Emory had her gift, she decided to jump on a boat cruise to Flowerpot Island and found a gift tagged with Ajay’s name. She took it to Ajay’s house and Ajay felt amazing to have received her lost gift.
Ajay and her big brother hiked at the Grotto later that afternoon and found a gift tagged with Rosemary’s name. Ajay delivered it to Rosemary’s house and Rosemary unwrapped it feeling good.
Rosemary and her family went kayaking over the shipwrecks in Big Tub Harbour and found a gift floating attached to one of the buoys with Odin’s name on the tag. She delivered it to Odin’s house and he unwrapped it feeling so special.
It was getting closer to supper time and Odin and his family went to eat a lovely fish dinner at Shipwreck Lee’s and at the dinner table was a gift with a tag marked for Georgia. It was getting dark, but Odin’s family knew it was important to deliver the gift.
Georgia was very happy. She was lucky enough to find three gifts while visiting the Glass Bottom boats that were parked at the docks. She delivered gifts to Sadie, Emma and Damian, who were all elated to have been given their missing gifts.
Sadie then found a gift at the scuba diving gear store and took it to North and Emma found a gift at Dunks Bay beach for Maverick.
Once all of the gifts had been delivered that holiday, all of the students felt that their kind acts would not go unnoticed. When all of the students returned to school in the New Year to tell their teachers and staff their holiday story, Mrs. Quist, Mrs. Bass, Mrs. Stewart, Mrs. Hall, and Mrs. Mielhausen were so proud of their students for what they had done to make the holidays so special for each of their friends.
The End
