From notes and data provided by Andrew Keaveney
The Pike Bay CBC (Christmas Bird Count) was held on December 29; the Cape Chin CBC was held on December 30. Both were organized by Andrew Keaveney.
The Pike Bay count was limited by the rainy, breezy weather conditions but still managed to record 4,494 individuals of 50 species, including Tundra Swan, Lesser Scaup, Northern Goshawk (count week) and White-winged Crossbill.
The Cape Chin count encountered pleasant weather overall, but sloppy conditions in the bush limited the number of kilometres walked by participants.
1,053 individuals were observed, of 36 species, including one new species, American Black Duck.
