On behalf of the Tobermory Legion Branch 290 and the Ladies Auxiliary, I would like to wish all in our community a very Happy New Year!

We are looking forward to continue our donations to worthwhile community needs and projects and of course Veterans’ needs as well.

On Sunday, January 19th, the legion will host a community breakfast at the legion from 9:30 am to 12:30 pm. All are welcome. The cost is $12.00 per adult and $6.00 for children under 10. Give your wife a break, or in my case Bob, and enjoy a delicious breakfast. The menu will consist of scrambled eggs, bacon, home fries, beans, toast, juice , coffee and tea. More breakfasts will be held in the coming months.

The branch is planning a Ham & Turkey Raffle in April. Stay tuned for details for a fun evening!

A reminder, our hours for meetings have changed for the next 4 months. The Executive meeting is at 2 p.m. followed by the General meeting at 3 p.m. the first Tuesday of the month.

Euchre will be held at the legion on Friday, January 24th. Bring some friends or come alone. Always a fun night.

Trivia will be January 10th at 7 p.m. If you store minutiae in your brain and never get a chance to use it, here is your opportunity. Check the event board outside the legion for future Trivia nights. All proceeds go to charitable causes.

Darts are held every Thursday afternoon at 3 p.m. All welcome! Good luck to Dan Mackey and team at the District finals!

The legion has revamped the website. Check it out at tobermorylegion.org. Upcoming events, legion information and the history of the legion can be viewed there.

Thank you to all who participated in the Santa Claus parade and the distributing of the goody bags for the children. A special thank you to Santa (you know who you are) for putting a smile on the children’s faces!

The Ladies’ Auxiliary has resumed winter bingo every Monday at 1 p.m., doors open at 12:30 pm. All welcome.

The Auxiliary welcomes two new members: Becky Clarke and Stacey Handley. Glad to have you aboard!

Donations to the auxiliary are always appreciated to help us to do our good community work!
