‘Somewhere to go, Something to do, Someone to talk to’

July 24 2024 – July started as a very busy month, starting with setting up and manning our booth at the Pike Bay Canada Day event. The next day a couple of us met to build six butterfly enclosures, which Anne James gives away to people to raise monarchs in. Immediately after that three of us built two wheelchair accessible picnic tables for Legion 202 Lions Head in time for their annual roast beef dinner.

As all of that was happening, there was another group of members who were at Golden Dawn on June 13 to barbecue hamburgers for residents and staff. Our guys cooked about 100 in all. The group returned on Canada Day to cook burgers and hot dogs, and had a great time meeting some of the male residents there. Hopefully in August we will return to assist residents in assembling a few birdhouses from the kits we made.

We will have a booth at the Wiarton Homecoming Festival August 3rd and 4th at Bluewater Park noon till 5 o’clock. Please come and say hello to us and to learn more about what we do.

Every Monday morning we meet for coffee 9-11, and our monthly meetings are the third Saturday morning of the month. You don’t need to be a member to drop in for coffee. Both are held at Canadian Legion Branch 202 on Highway 6 just north of Ferndale. Doors open at 8:30 all are welcome. If you would like further information on how to get involved with the Men’s Shed movement, please don’t hesitate to contact the Bruce Men’s Shed at brucemensshed@gmail.com or call Gerry at (519) 793–3005. At this time we do not have any membership fees.
