The Lion’s Head Legion Branch 202 elections were held to elect the executive, effective as of June 1, 2024 to May 31, 2025. Executive members (see photo at right) are Don Colter, 2nd Vice-President, Richard Smith, President, Sharron Colter, Secretary, Wayne Morningstar, Executive Committee, Rob Butchart, Zone C-4 Commander, Nancy Alleyne, Executive Committee, Kim White, Executive Committee, Gerry Tilmans, 1st Vice-President, Karin Webb, Treasurer, Steve Rice, Deputy Zone C-4 Commander. Absent from the picture is Chris Mawdsley, Executive Committee. The executive committee members will be appointed to specific positions in June. Brian Reis will be padre/chaplain.
There are two lucky winners of the special pink ticket lottery draw at the Legion. The $500.00 winner was Wendy Schwindt of Lion’s Head and the $300.00 winner was Anna Moressa from St. Thomas. Thank you to the supporters of this lottery. Proceeds will be used for updates at the Legion.
On Saturday May 4th, the Lion’s Head Legion held a spaghetti dinner and silent auction. Thank you to Wayne and Barb Morningstar and their many volunteers in the kitchen for the delicious spaghetti dinner.
Sharron and Don Colter coordinated the silent auction items. If you have an opportunity to visit any of the businesses who donated to the silent auction, say thank you as I am sure a thank you will give you lots of smiles. The Northern Bruce Peninsula businesses, residents and family members from afar have been generous in their donations. All proceeds will be donated to the Bruce Peninsula District School (BPDS) Grade 11 and Grade 12 trip to Europe in 2025 to attend the “80th Anniversary of the Liberation of Holland in May 1945 by the Canadian Military.” More information will be available in the Lion’s Head Bruce Peninsula District School news.
If you would like to donate to the trip to Europe in 2025 and to receive a charitable receipt for income tax purposes you can send a cheque to Bluewater District School Board (BWDSB) 351 1st Ave N., Chesley ON N0G 1L0. In your letter and on your cheque make a memo statement that you are donating to the BPDS 2025 Grade 11 and Grade 12 trip to Europe with your return address on the letter.
