Submitted by Sharron Colter, Secretary, Lion’s Head Legion

On Tuesday, November 21, the Lion’s Head Legion honoured the veterans and their spouses with a roast beef dinner. President Richard Smith welcomed them and thanked the veterans for their dedication to our country as they served to protect our freedoms and democracy.

There is a program to recognize veterans in a Military Service Recognition Book (MSRB). If you have a family member who has served in the military, you can submit a picture and short write up to be included in Volume XI to be published by September 2024. Submissions are due to the Legion’s secretary by May 2024 to be included in the next volume. The submission form is on the Ontario Command website. Call Sharron at 519-793-3473 if you want more information.

The Branch Executive and members would like to wish everyone a happy, joyful and peaceful time with their families during this special festive season. Remember the families that need a hand up to enjoy the Christmas celebrations with gifts and food.

The Lion’s Head Legion will make a monetary donation to the Lion’s Head and Area Food Bank and the Lion’s Head Hospital from the lottery fund. Thank you to the community and legion members who support the monthly 50/50 lottery draw. The monthly draw tickets are available at By the Bay in Pike Bay, at the Legion and from Don at 519-793-3473.

There is a new lottery draw ticket available for sale for $5.00. The lottery has two monetary prizes, $500.00 and $300.00, licenced by the Northern Bruce Peninsula Municipality. The draw will take place in April. Lots of time to buy a ticket and support your Legion. The funds will be used to continue the updates at the Legion. Call Don at 519-793-3473 or Wayne at 519-592-5846 to purchase the lottery tickets.
