Remembering Scott Laidlaw 1893-1917

In May of this year, Kathy Anderson and her husband Michael Coombs paid their respects at Kathy’s great uncle’s burial site in France.

William John Scott Laidlaw was born in Lion’s Head to William and Isabella (Gowan) Laidlaw on September 17th, 1893. He died while serving his country on November 27th, 1917 and is buried in Fouquières-lès-Lens, Communal Cemetery, Pas de Calais, France. He is also commemorated on the cenotaph in Lion’s Head and on his parents’ gravestone in the Eastnor Township Cemetery. Scott Laidlaw served in the army, Canadian Infantry, Saskatchewan Regiment, 5th BN Division.
