On June 11, there was a ceremony for Decoration Day and the Rededication of the refurbished Dunk’s Bay memorial. Although it was threatening to rain, the weather did hold off until well after the ceremony. We were able to have a parade and colour party, so we looked good for the many officials in attendance. Reverend Sheryl Spencer spoke eloquently and Past President Judy Hurst brought many of us to tears with her words. Afterward there was a wonderful and delicious luncheon at the branch put on by our Ladies Auxiliary; thank you Ladies.

Thank you to all who attended and who donated generously to the Dunk’s Bay fund. An enormous thank you to Chris McCoy who spearheaded the whole refurbishment.

At the time of this writing there was an unfortunate accident in Petawawa, Ontario. Four members of the 450 Tactical Helicopter Squadron were involved; 2 injured and 2 loss of lives. Our condolences to the families of these military personnel and wishes for a full recovery for those injured.

It has been with great pleasure that I have been the Public Relations Officer for branch 290 for the past 5 years and I have honestly enjoyed writing the articles for the paper. However, I have felt for awhile now that my voice was getting stale, so Judy Hurst is taking over as Public Relations Officer for branch 290. Thank you for reading my scribbles with each issue.

The next Club L is Saturday, July 8 from 9:00 pm to 1:00 am. D.J. Max will be providing the tunes. As always, I.D. is needed for entry, no I.D. plan on going home. There is a cover charge of $5 for members; $10 for non-members. Bring your valid Legion membership card with you to pay $5. Hope to see you for a night of dancing.
