The ‘Shine the Light’ campaign was held this past December and January and raised $12,494.15 for Golden Dawn’s redevelopment plans.
This preliminary campaign, was held by members of the Golden Dawn Board of Directors Fundraising Committee in order to raise funds towards the Redevelopment plans for the Golden Dawn Senior Citizen Home. They say “The reality of financing our rural, remote long-term care and seniors housing facility, the Golden Dawn, is no small task and, with that in mind the Board of Directors launched a campaign in order to ‘Shine the Light’ on the needs of the Golden Dawn.“ They invited local residents to ‘Shine the Light’ by offering input as to what and how the community might move forward with redevelopment options.
A portion of the funds raised has been allocated towards contracting a consulting firm to help the Redevelopment Planning Committee of the Board of Directors in moving Golden Dawn Redevelopment forward over the next few months.
The Board of Directors would like to extend a big thank-you to Kara and Kyle Hellyer, owners of the Lion’s Head Foodland, for inviting the Fundraising Committee to set-up their pop-up donation and information table for the duration of the ‘Shine the Light’ campaign.

They would also like to thank the many residents of Lion’s Head and surrounding areas for their interest and involvement in the ‘Shine the Light’ campaign.
Many interesting suggestions were made in regards to the redevelopment of the Golden Dawn. A few items from the ‘wish list’, a direct result of their ‘Shine the Light’ suggestion box, included many unique suggestions for redevelopment of the Golden Dawn facility, including an auditorium or common space where little ones/young relatives can play and meet older residents.
However the Directors’ prime focus remains on housing and support services for seniors and for those who care for them.
They promise to continue to provide updates on the redevelopment “We will keep you in touch as we move ahead with our planning and visioning for the future of our organization, which we hope becomes even more of a hub of activity, support, and care for our community.”
