Call to Order and Disclosure of Pecuniary Interest and the General Nature Thereof
Mayor McIver called the meeting to order at 1:57 p.m., following a meeting of the Committee of Adjustment, and Council members were reminded to disclose any pecuniary interest and the general nature thereof that may arise during the meeting.
Councillor Golden stated the following, “Please be advised that while I do not have a Conflict of Interest in the matter, to avoid any “perception” of conflict, I will not participate in any discussion on correspondence #2, from Robert Blackburn, as it refers to a company owned by my sibling.”
Deputy Mayor Myles declared a pecuniary interest on “Closed session. One letter was written by me and the other was about my daughter”.

Fire Chief, Jack Burt, noted that October 9th -15th, 2022, is Fire Prevention Week. He further noted the importance of home escape planning and checking that smoke detectors are operational.

CAO, Peggy Van Mierlo-West, noted that several projects were requested by staff surrounding Economic Development Services including, RED Funding for downtown revitalization, updating Community improvement plans and updating the Municipality’s Economic Development Strategic Plan.

Other Business
Deputy Mayor Myles inquired regarding the status of the creation of parking spaces near the Tamarac Island causeway.
· Public Works Manager, Troy Cameron, stated that approximately 6 parking spaces have been created near Walter Charman Drive.
· Municipal Law Enforcement Officer, Carol Hopkins, stated that signage had previously been posted at the site, but has since disappeared. She further stated that new signage has been ordered.
Members of Council thanked their fellow members and staff for their support over the 2018-2022 term of Council.
CAO, Peggy Van Mierlo-West, presented members of Council with a gift on behalf of staff for the last four years of service which they have dedicated to the Municipality.

Re: Pike Bay Lights
Public Works Manager, Troy Cameron, informed Council that dimmers were installed on the Pike Bay streetlights on the morning of October 11, 2022.
He further noted that several hydro poles are scheduled to be replaced within Pike Bay.
Deputy Mayor Myles inquired regarding the status of Tobermory streetlights.
Public Works Manager, Troy Cameron, stated that the contractor has commenced repairs.
