The second annual open water swim of 1.6 km (1 mile) from the Sandy Beach at Black Creek Provincial Park to Old Woman Island and back will be held on August 28, 2022 starting at 10 a.m.
The first swim event was held in August 2021, with 33 swimmers participating. There was strong community support with many locals turning out to cheer on the swimmers.
Swimming independently, those 12 years and older are invited to participate. There is a registration fee of $25 per person.

Event in support of Children of Residential Schools
Organizers Sahand Amiri and Teresa Nesci started the tradition on year 1 of the swim event to honour Children and Families of Residential School. This year they have chosen to donate proceeds from this year’s event towards supporting the Kabaeshiwin Respite Women’s and Children’s Shelter. The goal is to raise $3,000 for the shelter.
The event is now open for registration. Closing date for registration is August 24 2022. Visit their GoFundMe page for details on how to donate, or sponsor a swimmer https://gofund.me/6f492822
