Some of you may have noticed the previous article in the Press, reporting on the Sources of Knowledge Seabin project and the June 11 “Deep Dive Waste Characterization”, where we analyzed contents of the floating trash bins for plastics and other contaminants in collaboration with the NGO, Georgian Bay Forever.
Or maybe you have met Inspector Seabin, our project ambassador?!
Results from the “deep dive” were interesting with trash consisting of cigarette butts, pieces of plastic film (mostly broken down from larger plastic garbage), paper, and a surprising amount of foam pieces in the Big Tub Harbour Seabin, likely from floating docks.
Mark your calendars to head down to Little Tub Harbour on Saturday, July 16 at 11 a.m. to observe or even participate in the next “Deep Dive” – we’re meeting at the Little Tub Seabin in front of the Tobermory Wave boat.
