Spring has arrived and the weather has not been too bad. Unfortunately the branch had to cancel all events planned for the last weekend in March as no one wanted the Legion to be known as a super spreader! It is always paramount that the community be kept safe and now that nature seems to have run its course the Legion can be known as the Super Spreader of Fun!

As many of you know Shirley Johnstone the Chair of Senior and Veteran Services works tirelessly on everyone’s behalf; in fact Shirley is a rock star at getting recognition for our Veterans. When attempting to have a Veteran recognized in the Military Service Book, or for the Billy Bishop Award, Shirley does need to contact family members for clarification of details and for signatures. When Shirley contacts you for a signature or clarification regarding your family member please try to reply in a timely manner. It will help Shirley and get your family member the recognition deserved as a Veteran.
Family of Veterans interred at Dunk’s Bay Cemetery are being approached about purchasing a marker for the gravesite. The markers are: a metal plate 3” x 4” mounted on a 11” metal spike. Proudly made in Canada. The cost to purchase would be $25.00. There is a marker at the branch should you wish to view it in person. There has been good feedback on this initiative with a number of people showing interest. If you are interested in purchasing a marker for your family member or sponsoring a marker for one of the 125 Veterans interred at Dunk’s Bay, please contact Doug Smith at dsmith@amtelecom.net
Help Wanted
The branch is looking for a part-time (approx. 10 hours/week or less) bartender primarily for Saturday nights from 9:00 pm to 2:00 am. You must have a valid Smart Serve certificate. If you are interested please send your resume to secretary@tobermorylegion.org
Upcoming Events
• Trivia Night – Friday, April 8 at 7:00 pm. Cost is $10/person, proceeds donated to local causes. Get a team of 4 to 6 people together, come on out and test your knowledge.
• Euchre – Friday, April 22 at 7:00 pm. Cost $5.00. Come on out to play some cards.
• Breakfast – TBA please watch the sign for the date Sunday, April ? from 10:00 am to 1:00 pm. Cost is $12.00 for adults, $6.00 for children. Enjoy bacon, sausage, scrambled eggs, homefries and toast.
• General Membership Meeting – Tuesday, April 12 at 8:00 pm. If you are a member, come to the meeting.
• Meat Draws – every Saturday at 4:30 p.m. All are welcome; come on out! Cost is $7.00 for 3 draws, plus the bonus draw.
• Bingo – every Monday at 1:00 p.m. at the Community Centre run by the Ladies Auxiliary.
• Darts for Fun – every Thursday at 7:30 pm; cost is $2.00 and ten cents to the duck if you are so lucky!
Branch Hours are Saturday from 3:00 to 9:00 p.m. Please maintain distance and use hand sanitizer. Also feel free to wear a mask if that makes you more comfortable. Thank you.
