MEMBERS PRESENT: Mayor Milt McIver, Deputy Mayor Debbie Myles, Councillor James Mielhausen, Councillor Megan Myles

MEMBERS ABSENT: Councillor Laurie (Smokey) Golden

STAFF PRESENT: Peggy Van Mierlo-West, Chief Administrative Officer, Cathy Addison, Deputy Clerk, Tessa Swanton, Administrative Assistant 

OTHERS PRESENT: Nil 

All members of Council were present in the council chamber and the meeting was held via zoom, an electronic platform, for members of the public to attend. 

DISCLOSURE OF PECUNIARY INTEREST AND GENERAL NATURE THEREOF

Mayor McIver called the meeting to order at 9:01 a.m. and Council members were reminded to disclose any pecuniary interest and the general nature thereof that may arise during the course of the meeting.

THAT the content of the agenda be approved as presented.

CONSIDERATION OF AGENDA ITEMS

1. Chief Administrative Officer Report No. CAO 20-30

RE: Clerk Appointment By-law

Mayor McIver stated that he is pleased to have Cathy Addison as the new Clerk for the Municipality. He informed that she has been working for the Municipality for almost 21 years and he is looking forward to continuing to work with Cathy.

THAT, Council receives the Clerk Appointment By-Law Report, AND;

THAT, Council enacts By-law No. 2020-74, being a by-law to appoint Ms. Cathy Addison as Clerk, at this special meeting of Council on Friday August 7th, 2020.

2. Deputy Clerk Report No. DC 20-30

RE: Municipal Law Enforcement Officers appointment by-law

Moved by D. Myles Resolution #31-03-2020 Seconded by M. Myles 

THAT, the report titled Municipal Law Enforcement Officers appointment by-law be received, AND;

THAT, Council approves amendments to the Municipal Law Enforcement Officer appointments for the Municipality of Northern Bruce Peninsula AND;

THAT, By-law No. 2020-75 be approved.

OTHER BUSINESS

Councillor Mielhausen advised that he has been contacted by members of the public requesting that the unopened road allowance at the intersection of County Road 9 and County Road 29 be used as a walking access to get to the Bruce Trail access off of McCurdy Drive as it would be convenient for individuals parking at the Lion’s Head Arena/Community Centre parking lot.

Mayor McIver indicated that Council will be examining all options relating to parking in the near future. 

Peggy Van Mierlo-West said that the topic of parking will be discussed by the management team prior to Council discussion.
