The Rotary Club of Northern Bruce Peninsula is proud to announce that, thanks to generous donations from two Rotarians, we have been able to increase its scholarship fund for this year. Because of a virtual tie for Highest Academic Proficiency we are able to give the two students $1,000.00 each. We have also increased our Mary Cameron Scholarship from $500.00 to $1,000.00 for this year. Rotary’s Virtual Pancake Breakfast
Rotary is proud to report that the second Virtual Pancake Breakfast raised $265.00 which will be donated immediately to our local food banks in Ferndale and Tobermory. Thank you to all who participated! It isn’t easy to do ‘fundraisers’ during these times and it takes wonderful supporters to make them a success. We are proud to be able to continue to give service to our community.
Unfortunately, with e-transfers, we are unable to thank donors personally or via e-mail. We are, nevertheless VERY appreciative of your support once again.
Rotary New Year Begins
Well it isn’t really a new year for everyone but, once July 1st rolls around, it is the beginning of a new year in Rotary. Our previous Executive have done a great job and have turned over the ‘reins’ to a new group who will continue to enhance Rotary in our community and our world.
We, as a group, thank Past President Doug Embleton who has, over the last few years, guided our club through some difficult times and, at the same time, increased our membership significantly. Doug was, in fact, honoured at the district level for the work he had done with membership in our club. Doug, from all your friends in Rotary and from your community, ‘THANK YOU’. The same thanks, of course, goes to our executive who have done a masterful job at keeping Rotary moving along.
The club also thanks John White who has been an exceptional Treasurer for many years. I am also stepping down as Secretary or ‘official scribe’ as I call it. Each of us who are leaving our positions would tell you that it has been a wonderful experience to work with such an outstanding group of members. Rotary is a wonderful experience and we shall continue to serve our club in whatever way we are able.
We welcome a new and exciting new leadership team. PRESIDENT CATHRYN BUCKLEY is no stranger to Rotary having been a member for years and having been active in both the former Tobermory Rotary Club and the Rotary Club of Northern Bruce Peninsula for years. Cathryn understands Rotary more than most and has been an intrical part of Rotary International’s team serving in the ‘Youth Exchange’ portfolio at the District Level. She will bring a new sense of purpose to our club and a renewed enthusiasm. Her team of Catherine Henderson as Treasurer, and David Mansfield as Secretary will, along with all the directors and club members, serve us well and bring distinction to our club and to Rotary.
Our club and our community salutes our new team.
