It’s all happening with support and planning from The Meeting Place in Tobermory.
It’s not too late to sign up for Sharing Dance Seniors 8 week winter session starting Friday January 17 at 10:30 am – a gentle and creative way to get in your exercise while ‘dancing’ to all kinds of music. Designed for the older adult, our volunteer coordinators Chantal Dufour and Nicole Borse make this program a Friday ‘destination’.
The always popular Community Kitchens is doing a complete program of cooking and sampling recipes originating from other cultures starting with celebrating the Chinese New Year with a chinese food spread on Thursday January 23, 12:30pm at the Tobermory Community Centre kitchen. This is the first of three winter Community Kitchens sessions. TMP would like to know ahead who is interested in attending these programs so phone 519-596-2313. There is no cost to participate. TMP always welcomes donations to cover costs if you can contribute.
Sports, sports and more sports. Intergenerational play. Tuesday evenings 7-9pm for Pickleball and Wednesday evenings 7-9pm for Sports Night (badminton, basketball, floor hockey) are now booked at St. Edmund’s school in Tobermory. Adults and teens 12 and up are invited to come out either or both nights to play some good competitive games together. Meet your friends; there’s a real following thanks to volunteers Carrie Bennett and Larry Stevens. Thanks also to our local Legion Branch 290 for their generous support toward the purchase of pickleball equipment.
SPARK Project is distributing its ‘postcard from home’. Look for it in this issue (see page 2/3). Call TMP if you want to join the project. It’s another way to be involved in your community this winter.
Happy 2020 from The Meeting Place in Tobermory.
