A big thank you to all of the people who helped to make our “Wedding Gowns Through The Ages” a great event. We had nineteen dresses on display dating from 1900 to 2000.
The dresses were accompanied by framed photographs of the bride and groom and, in some instances, an entire wedding album.
Betty Dean loaned not only her bridal gown but a bridesmaid dress and that of the flower girl from the early 1970’s. These dresses were made by a family friend and they were also used at a later date by another bride in the family. Some of the other gowns had also been used more than once by family or friends.

Numerous people loaned framed wedding photos of their families and there was also a poster display of local weddings spanning the years from 1893 until 2015.
During the nine days of the exhibit, over 300 people turned out to enjoy the beautiful dresses and to reminisce about days gone by. The event ended on the afternoon of August 17th with cake and lemonade served on the museum grounds.
We want to keep St. Edmunds Bruce Peninsula Museum a vibrant place. Any ideas for future events are always warmly welcomed.
If you have not been to the museum lately, come and check us out. We are open daily from 11 am until 4 pm up to Labour Day then on weekends until Thanksgiving.
