At the General Membership Meeting held on June 10, the membership voted to donate $3,000.00 to Tobermory Outreach, a programme that exists within our community to assist those in need. On a beautiful morning recently, a cheque was presented to Brad Inglis on behalf of Tobermory Outreach. It is through everyone supporting the Legion that we are able to assist many causes in our fine community. Thank you!
Upcoming events:
•Trivia Night is being held on Friday, July 12, at 7 pm, come on out and test your knowledge.
•There is a BBQ on Saturday, July 20 & 27 at 6 pm following meat draw. Cost is $12 for a delicious burger, salad and dessert; come for the meat draw, stay for a burger.
• Darts for fun is every Thursday, 7 pm, Meat Draws are Saturday, 4 pm, all at the Branch and the Branch is open Thursday, Friday, and Saturday at 3:30 pm.
•Ladies Auxiliary Bingo is every Wednesday, 7 pm at the Tobermory Community Centre.
Remember that the Branch accepts cash only and bring your Legion membership card on Saturday Entertainment nights. There is a DJ and a $5 cover for non-members. Please note that the doorman on Saturday nights has not, and will not, memorize all legion members’ faces, so if you do not have your legion membership card your choice is to either go home and get it or stand in line and pay the cover charge just like everyone else.

Legion Track & Field: Great Showing

On Saturday June 22nd, Luke Belanger represented the Royal Canadian Legion (RCL) Tobermory Branch 290 at the Royal Canadian Legion Track and Field Event held in Kincardine. Luke competed in three track events and finished very well. The results are as follows: 200m run – 4th place; 300m run – 5th place and 800m run – 6th place. Congratulations Luke!
The RCL Track and Field Competition is held at the end of June each year. Participants are allowed to compete in three events. There will be posting next year for the 2020 Track and Field event.
