In late April the Ferndale, Lion’s Head & District Lioness members were out in force doing their spring cleaning for seven kms along Highway 6 between Everatt Side Road and Cherry Hill Road. Picking up the roadside garbage were (left to right) Carol Phillips, Donna Rocca, Lynne Atchison, Donna Dowding, Jackie Souter and Bev Miller. Helping the cause was Steve Miller, who also picked up garbage and took the group picture.
At the end of the day the group had picked up enough trash to fill 15 large garbage bags. One of the bags was filled with beer cans and bottles, and these were donated to the local cubs and scouts to help them raise funds for their organizations. Other items picked up were tires, Styrofoam sheets, mesh fencing, and large chunks of metal.
It seems some of our visitors or residents are not particularly proud of keeping our major road system clean.
Please, do not litter when you are driving on Highway 6. Remember to keep our community beautiful.
