Remediation Work Begins at Cabot Head Light Station: Work Scheduled for Completion by End of Spring

The Department of Fisheries has announced that the lead paint and asbestos abatement at the Cabot Head Lightstation property began this January.
Remediation activities, which also include soil remediation, are expected to be completed by the end of Spring 2019.
“Content removal and storage of the Lighthouse Keepers Dwelling and Old Lighthouse was scheduled to begin on Saturday, January 26th. The contractor confirmed that power to the site should be restored by Monday, January 28th, and asbestos abatement in the Lighthouse Keeper’s Dwelling is currently scheduled to begin today (January 31st).” said the update provided by DFO.
Work on the property will take place seven days a week from approximately 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. Residents may notice increased traffic associated with snow clearing, construction equipment, and large trucks moving on and off the Cabot Head Light Station site
