World Snow Day will take place on January 20, 2019. This is a worldwide event promoted by International Ski Federation or FIS. The Bruce Ski Club will be participating in World Snow Day with their own event by opening up their ski and snowshoe trails at the club’s Sawmill Nordic Centre with free access to everyone (members and non-members) from 10:00 am to 4:00 pm on January 20th. (Non-members will be required to sign a waiver before taking part.) Bring your families to try the trails 1 km. east of Hepworth.
There will be guided tours of both the cross-country ski trails and snowshoe trails, as well as basic ski lessons if requested. After the activities, warm up by the bonfire. Soup and other goodies will be for sale in support of local racer Julian Smith.
Sawmill Nordic Centre offers 11 km. of both classic and skate ski trails. There are also 5 km. of marked snowshoe trails. The ski and snowshoe trails are marked as easy, moderate or difficult for all levels of users.
