Lion’s Head, ON — What began as a simple challenge from a local student has grown into an inspiring example of community generosity and support for local healthcare. Emmett Stewart, a student at Bruce Peninsula District School, successfully completed his Action Plan Project campaign in support of Brightshores Lion’s Head Hospital, exceeding expectations and bringing the community together in a meaningful way.
Emmett initially set out to raise $500 by challenging others to match his personal $20 donation. Thanks to overwhelming support from friends, family, and community members, his campaign quickly gained momentum and far surpassed its original goal—raising an impressive $3,444. The impact was further amplified by the generous participation of the Mascott Family Foundation, which matched the campaign total, bringing the final fundraising impact to $6,888 in support of local healthcare.
Reflecting on his experience, Emmett shared: “I want to say a big ‘thank you’ to everyone who contributed to my Action Plan Project. But most importantly, ‘thank you’ for supporting the Brightshores Lion’s Head Hospital! Seeing friends, family and community members come together through my campaign to strengthen local healthcare made me feel very proud. I am also grateful to the Mascott Family Foundation for joining my challenge!”
Funds raised through the campaign will support priority equipment needs at Brightshores Lion’s Head Hospital, helping to ensure residents and visitors alike continue to have access to high-quality care close to home.
“Emmett’s campaign is a powerful reminder that leadership and philanthropy have no age limit,” said April Patry, Executive Director of the Bruce Peninsula Hospitals Foundation. “The enthusiasm he inspired, combined with the generosity of our community and the Mascott Family Foundation, demonstrates how small ideas can grow into something truly impactful. We are incredibly proud of Emmett and grateful to everyone who supported his effort.”
The success of this campaign highlights the strength of the Bruce Peninsula community and its ongoing commitment to sustaining local healthcare services. Emmett’s initiative not only raised important funds but also inspired a shared sense of pride and connection among those who contributed.
