Nomination Period for 2026 Municipal Election is Now Open

The nomination period for the upcoming fall 2026 Municipal and School Board Election is now open as of Friday, May 1, 2026. Nominations will officially close on Friday, August 21, 2026, at 2pm. To run for a place in office, you must complete all forms within the Candidate Package (except for signatures) and submit a filing fee of $200 for the Head of Council and $100 for other offices. Forms can be picked up at the municipal office at 56 Lindsay Road 5. To file papers, an appointment is required with the Clerk and can be scheduled by emailing clerk@northernbruce.ca or by phone at 1-833-793-3537.

Nominations close on Nomination Day at 2pm on August 21. The Voters List will be available to certified candidates on September 1. Advanced voting for the election starts on October 19 at 10am with final votes being cast on Voting Day at 8pm at the latest. Results will be declared as soon as possible. The 2026-2030 Council Term will commence on November 15 with the Inaugural Council Meeting held on November 23, 2026.

Candidates can run for the following offices: Mayor, Deputy Mayor, and Councillor, along with trustees for various school boards. As of the printing date of this newspaper, Eric Lapointe has registered as a candidate for the French Public Trustee School Board, Conseil Scolaire Viamonde and Lucie Desbiens for the English Separate Trustee, Bruce Grey Catholic District School Board.
