Many residents of the Northern Bruce Peninsula have been visiting Candace at the Shine 1-1 Mobile dental hygiene van in the Peninsula Family Health Team Tobermory clinic parking lot. Brilliant smiles were all around when her first patient to book, Eric Lane, received a wonderful hygiene gift from the team at the Peninsula Family Health Team (PFHT) presented by Dr. Elaine Blau. (picture below). PHFT and Tobermory Health Services Auxiliary (THSA) are so happy to have helped to facilitate this essential healthcare service.
Candace (Candy) McIntyre is a licensed Independent Registered Hygienist who is bringing much needed dental hygienist services directly to the doorstep of our rural residents. Many patients have expressed true gratitude to be able to obtain this care close to home as they have not had access to dental hygiene services locally. Candy has also been able to help new patients navigate the new Canada Dental plan to be able to pay for these services. Candy is almost booked for her remaining November spaces but is accepting bookings for her spring visits via https://akitu.io/rk4qK. Her mobile truck will be located at PFHT parking lot at 7275 Highway 6, Tobermory.
Shine 1-1 Mobile Dental Hygiene clinic is a fully equipped vehicle with modern dental hygienist technology. Services offered will include cleaning, fluoride protection, oral cancer examinations, dental hygiene education and tooth whitening and Candy will provide direct billing for her service as outlined in the Ontario Dental Hygiene Association Fee Guide.
Eric said to the THSA and the PFHT that he was extremely pleased working with Candy for his dental hygiene needs. Candy is also thrilled to have had a full roster of bookings making her trips to Tobermory all the more worthwhile.
Residents can view the mobile clinic schedule and make appointments with Candy by visiting https://akitu.io/rk4qK to book directly online, going to the home page and clicking on “Book Now” or by calling 519-373-3519.
Walk-ins will be welcome when space allows.
With the arrival of mobile dental hygiene services, the North Bruce is taking a big step toward healthier smiles and a healthier future.
