The Ferndale, Lion’s Head and District Lions Club would like to thank all those who participated in and donated to the Lions Foundation Canada – Walk for Dog Guides which occurred on Sunday, May 29 with perfect weather for the occasion in the Village of Lion’s Head.
The Lions set up at the Beach Park Pavilion and were happy to welcome over a dozen eager canines and their very capable human companions. The Walkers were sponsored by many people who donated to the worthy cause. The assemblage was very well behaved as they followed the designated route up to the Bayview subdivision and around the big loop stopping along the way at a halfway point water station.

Some occasional rowdiness did not interrupt the great fun that was had by all and participants expressed a strong desire to repeat the Walk again next year.
Particular thanks go out to the Swans and Bear Tracks Restaurant, and to 97.9 The Bruce Radio Station who broadcasted support and supplied great music.

This nationwide annual walk is for the benefit of the Lions Foundation of Canada Dog Guide program which has been run out of Oakville, Ontario since 1985. The program empowers Canadians with disabilities to navigate their world with confidence and independence by providing Dog Guides at no cost to them and supporting each pair in their journey together.

Upcoming Horseshoe Tournament July 31
The next big event for the Lions Club will be the ever-popular annual Horseshoe Tournament. Also held at the Lion’s Head Beach Park, it is scheduled for Sunday, July 31.
The tournament is open to all levels of skill and abilities. Registration is open at 11:00 AM and the Lions will have food and a bar for the enjoyment of participants and spectators. All proceeds, of course, for the benefit of community projects and for those who are sometimes less fortunate.
