Under the new community-focused Climate Action project, the Bruce Peninsula Biosphere Association (BPBA) has launched a Survey that aims to gather community data on Home Energy Efficiency and Climate Change in the Municipality of Northern Bruce Peninsula (MNBP). The Survey aims to identify residents who may be interested in learning about new Greener Homes Initiative, Energy Audits, home retrofit rebates and incentives, and other methods of lowering home energy costs.
Participants will be asked to answer questions related to the energy efficiency of their primary residence on the Peninsula, and on their thoughts about Climate Change. Upon completion, participants will be entered into a draw for $100 of groceries from Hellyer’s Foodland in Lion’s Head, Peacock’s Foodland in Tobermory, or The Easy Farm in Ferndale.
The data gathered will serve three main functions:
1. Connect community members to financial and informational resources. This will enhance local home energy efficiency, help lower residents’ home energy bills, and reduce local carbon emissions.
2. Help alleviate the shortage of skilled contractors doing home energy retrofit work in the community. The data will provide insight to the market for home energy retrofits in our community which may attract new Energy Advisors, HVAC installers, Carpenters, or other skilled workers to our area.
3. Provide essential insights that will guide the production of a Community Climate Action Plan. This strategic plan aims to mitigate our community’s greenhouse gas emissions and adapt to the effects of Climate Change felt in our community.
The Survey is open to all seasonal and full-time residents of the Municipality of Northern Bruce Peninsula who are 18 years of age or older. To participate, please go to www.SurveyMonkey.com/NBP-Energy-Survey.
