The fourth annual Just the Tip Shoot & Scoot Charity Ride raised $5,100 for local children’s programs, with proceeds being split between Tobermory Children’s Camp and the Bruce Peninsula District School Breakfast Program.
The annual motorcycle fundraiser brought riders, volunteers, local businesses and community members together for a day of games, food, music and fundraising, with organizers saying the support showed the strength of the community behind the event.
Funds raised through the ride, silent auction and other activities will support programs for local children. The event also included a second year of Evelyn’s “Swears for Kids” swear jar, which raised nearly $100.
Organizers credited a long list of volunteers, businesses and community members with helping make the event possible, including those who donated properties as stops along the route, sponsored the silent auction and helped run games and prepare food.
This year’s event also marked the first time Tobermory Legion Branch 290 handled the bar, while Owen Sound band Rewired provided the evening entertainment.
Blue Heron donated a bus and driver to help participants get home safely following the event.
Organizers said the fundraising result was made possible by everyone who participated, from riders and donors to volunteers and businesses that supported the day.
With the fourth annual ride now in the books, organizers aren’t waiting long to begin planning the next one. Planning for the fifth annual Shoot & Scoot has already started, with organizers teasing “big changes” for next year’s event.
