Orders for commemorative banners continue to roll in. It looks as though we will have all twenty hydro poles in Lion’s Head flying a banner this fall. When the Canadian flags are removed after Thanksgiving, the banners will go up.
Many soldiers were born and raised here, and their grandkids, sons, daughters, nieces, and nephews are excited to pay tribute to their family members. Once the veterans crosswalk is installed the faces and names of those who served can be proudly shared. Some are buried in Eastnor cemetery.
For me it is very interesting to hear or read the stories associated with each banner request. Service ranged from army to tanks to navy and both World War I and II.
Once a month we hold a Veteran’s Coffee that is open to Veterans and currently serving members of the Canadian Armed Forces, RCMP and First Responders. The next one is Wednesday August 19th from 10am to noon.
Our free weekly Tai Chi classes are Fridays, 9:30 to 10:30 am. This is open to the public so if you’re interested just come out a few minutes early, and bring a dry pair of shoes with you. The focus of the moves are to stretch, improve balance, and of course, have fun. This is not a “hot” workout so casual wear is fine.
Come out to play cornhole every Thursday at 1 pm, but bring your darts in case it rains.
