One of the largest displays of regional art will be showcased at the 56th Annual Bruce Peninsula Art Show to be held from 31 July to 3 August 2026 at Bruce Peninsula District School in Lion’s Head. The Art Show has garnered the reputation for offering high quality art and patrons can find something to suit every budget and size requirement.
Many artists, who are either permanent or seasonal residents in Grey or Bruce County, participate year after year at the Art Show. The show attracts visits from many local residents and from the neighbouring urban districts.
With two galleries of art, there is lots to savor. Gallery 1, located in the school auditorium, will host 49 artists displaying original works of art, photography, paintings and fabric artworks. Gallery 2, located in the room across the hallway, will showcase the works of 26 artists through reproduction prints, cards, jewelry, woodworking and pottery.
New this year is a special exhibit “Artful Echoes” by the Bruce Peninsula Society of Artists. Participating artists will draw inspiration for their submission from a series of three photographs taken by Brenda Kerton. Art patrons will be able to nominate their favorite artwork for the “People’s Choice Award”.
The cost of artist participation is very economical, making it an attractive opportunity for local and regional artists. Interested artists can contact organizers at the thebpartshow@gmail.com
Completely volunteer-run, a committee of six members plan and execute this amazing event, along with the help of 20 volunteers that support the Art Show over the duration of the Civic Holiday weekend. Anyone wishing to volunteer to this event can contact the organizers at thebpartshow@gmail.com
Members of the local fire service donate their time to assist in the set-up and dismantling of the display boards in the main gallery.
The Art Show, which is a registered non-profit organization, offers bursaries to graduating high school students of the Bluewater District School Board. Eligible students are recommended by their art teachers. Those nominated must demonstrate a high level of talent in their work and plan to pursue post secondary studies in Fine Arts. A percentage of proceeds from the sale of art works and donations go towards funding the Bursaries. This year’s recipient is Daniella Connolly.
The Art Show also funds an Endowment Fund at Georgian College to support students in the Fine Arts Program.
Admission is free, donations will be accepted for the Bursary Fund.
The Art Show Opening Night takes place on 31 July from 7 p.m to 9 p.m. It will continue on Saturday, Sunday, and Monday (1st, 2nd and 3th of August) from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. daily.
