On Saturday May 30th we held a bicycle tuneup event at the Lion’s Head Farmers’ Market that was very well received by the community. There was a steady flow of bikes coming in all morning, keeping our crew of six going non-stop. Working in groups of two and three, they steadily worked their way through twenty-four bikes, running well past the end of the market. We would like to thank Sean Laporte of Owen Sound who brought his years of experience. Thanks also to Scott Elliott for running intake and Jerry Greig for help in the booth. While I helped with intake, our technicians were headed by organizer Rick Krisko, who worked alongside Michael Latimer, Terry Dovaston, Dave Drawbell and Geoff Cunliffe. People were generous with their donations but the accolades from shoppers were fantastic.

We are looking for two intrepid paddlers to race this year’s entry into the Chi-Cheemaun Festival’s cardboard boat race. The race will take place Saturday June 13 at 2pm. Bring a life vest and paddles if you have them, or use one of ours. If you know someone interested please contact us and paddle for glory! Come out to watch the races too, they’re a lot of fun.

Our next monthly meeting is Saturday June 20 from 9am-11am. Every Monday morning we meet for coffee from 9am-11am at Canadian Legion Branch 202, 6 Hellyer Road on Highway 6, 4 km north of Ferndale. Doors open at 8:45.

There is also a Bruce Men’s Shed coffee gathering every Wednesday at 10 am in Wiarton at 451 Frank Street, Matthew Mutch hosting.

If you would like further information on how to get involved with the Men’s Shed movement, please contact us at brucemensshed@gmail.com or call Gerry at (519) 793–3005.
