Students at Bruce Peninsula District School (BPDS) and St Edmunds Public School (St Eds) enjoyed a sumptuous feast of turkey, mashed potatoes, corn, stuffing, gravy, cranberry sauce, bread rolls and desserts at the annual Festive Feast on 12 December 2025.

The Lion’s Head Community Bottle Fund fully sponsors the supplies for the festive feast for St Eds and BPDS. Each December, teachers, community volunteers and students come together to create a special dining experience for the students. This year, the SWANS supported the preparations of the meal at BPDS by cooking the turkeys, peeling potatoes and helping in other food prep. Student volunteers, assisted by parent volunteers and teachers, set up the cafeteria for the sit down meals, served the meals and did the clean-up. The Elementary students are served at the first sitting, afterwards, the tables are cleared and set up for the second sitting which is for the high school classes.

The kindergarten kids gave the meal full marks, saying everything was good. The JK and SK classes were served in their classrooms by high school student volunteers. The cafeteria was full of noisy chatter and good cheer as the students and invited guests feasted on the turkey meal with all the fixings.

Tim Hayes of the Lion’s Head Community Bottle Fund is always thrilled to see the students enjoying the meal each year. He is always impressed that there is never any shortage of volunteer help from the students and community members, all working together to offer a memorable seasonal meal for the students.
