Those of us fortunate enough to have a heated workshop can now continue tinkering without freezing and so a group of ten of our members have been meeting weekly to do a woodworking project at Scott’s shop. He has been leading the group in both learning new techniques on various power tools such as the table saw, thickness planer, cutting mitre joints, doing wood inlay. They are crafting tabletop shuffleboards and hope next year to work on other wooden parlour games such as crokinole boards.

The group took a road trip to Welbeck Sawmill Ltd in Durham. If you’ve never been there, they have a Toyland! For woodworkers. With an amazing selection of power tools, hand tools, magazines, books, hardware and accessories you can plan and outfit most any project. They specialize in plywood for example with cherry, birch and other woods for fine woodworking projects.
Our next monthly Saturday meeting is December 20th 9am-11am, and every Monday morning we meet for coffee 9am-11am at Canadian Legion Branch 202, 6 Hellyer Road on Highway 6, 4 km north of Ferndale. Doors open at 8:45am. There is also a coffee gathering every Wednesday at 10am in Wiarton at 451 Frank street, Matthew Mutch hosting.
