Press Release

November 12, 2025 – Owen Sound, Ont. – The MS Chi-Cheemaun concluded its 2025 sailing season on Sunday, October 26, and marked the final voyage with the sold-out Fall Repositioning Cruise on Monday, October 27. Onboard, the Canadian Mental Health Association (CMHA) Grey Bruce led fundraising efforts and musical entertainer Al Crawford wowed the audience. As the Chi-Cheemaun sailed from Tobermory to Owen Sound Harbour for her winter berth, an enthusiastic crowd gathered to welcome the vessel home, with fantastic tunes filling the waterfront from The Owen Sound Band.

Our heartfelt gratitude goes to every passenger making the Chi-Cheemaun part of your adventures and travel plans this past year. We applaud our dedicated crew and staff for their outstanding professionalism, hospitality, and unwavering commitment to providing safe and smooth operations, making every journey aboard the Chi-Cheemaun exceptional.

This season, we welcomed a 1.2 per cent increase in passenger ridership and a 4.7 per cent surge in vehicle traffic since last year. The Chi-Cheemaun completed 887 crossings between Tobermory and Manitoulin Island. Due to inclement weather, eight sailings required cancellations over two days of the season.

As 2026 approaches, we look ahead to another exciting sailing season. Beloved experiences like the Spring Repositioning Cruise and the Play for Passage program will return—along with opportunities to explore, connect and journey across Georgian Bay. Reservations for the 2026 season will open in March, with daily sailings scheduled from May 1 through October 18, 2026. Please note that these dates are subject to confirmation.
