I am writing concerning five loose St. Bernard dogs that frequent the Miller Lake West area. A couple of years ago there were just two, but now the pack has grown to five. Several complaints have been made to the municipal by-law department, but nothing has been done about these dogs. By-Law has been informed of the home address of these dogs so it shouldn’t be too hard to find them!
People are intimidated and some are afraid to go for walks. This is understandable. Each dog weighs approximately 150 pounds. One of my neighbours was actually knocked to the ground by these dogs and I have personally seen them ripping open garbage bags left at the curb.
If these were five coyotes or wolves something would have done right away about them! Why must the people of Miller Lake West be anxious about going for a simple walk? My wife is very unsteady on her feet. She can only manage a short walk from our door to one of our vehicles. She should not have to worry about whether or not these dogs are going to attack her!
Is it going to take someone getting seriously hurt or worse before something is done about these dogs and their owner?
