SERVICE – WE ASSIST, NURTURE, SUPPORT

Wow – it’s fall already! The Peninsula SWANS are back in full swing! The Club held their first meeting of the Fall session after having a break over the summer months from the “business” part of the group. As usual, the meeting was at the Swan Lake Legion Hall on the first Wednesday of the month. It was nice to see the other members and enjoy a delicious meal prepared by the Legion Auxiliary. The ladies never disappoint!

There was lots of energy in the room and we had one prospective member and representatives from the Golden Dawn facility to provide an update on their organization. Rachael Wilkins and Tasha Zurbrigg explained the governance and the many programs and activities available to the residents. The talk was very informative and touching as they aim to provide a “Home with a Heart” (my description). SWANS made a donation of $500.00 to assist with their activities.

Thanks to Rachael and Tasha for the update and all the best for the future plans!

September is going to be a busy month for catering. Thanks to all the members that will make those events a success!

The Club is presenting a new fundraiser on Thanksgiving weekend. This “Ladies Day Out – Fall Edition” will offer an opportunity to have a light lunch out and shop the pre-loved ladies’ fashions, plus stock up on Thanksgiving pies and fall goodies. Your family will love you! This NEW venture will be held at the Friendship Club, beside the arena in Lion’s Head on October 11th from 10 am until 2 pm. This is a CASH only event with all proceeds going back into the community. Hope to see you there!

It is always fascinating to see how each member of the SWANS brings something amazing to the table. If you are interested in sharing your talents to keep our community strong, please reach out to Roberta Mielhausen at 519-374-4110.
