Clean & Green (KTBC&G)
Thank you to everyone who has been Keeping the Bruce Clean & Green, especially to our Litter Ambassadors!
The season is coming to a close and one more sweep to collect litter would be appreciated. If you are in Tobermory and walking the Harbour path, maybe a group lunch and pick up could be a part of your day?
October 1st is the deadline to return liquor and beer containers to 182 Cape Hurd Road, or in the Harbour behind the Chamber information booth.
Sincere thanks to Bunkey and Geoff Cunliffe for all their hard work over the years. This has been our best source of income ever. The landfill has also been a big winner.
We are looking for suggestions for new signage locations along Hwy 6. Wouldn’t it be nice to see KTBC&G signs from Wiarton to Tobermory? If you wish to display a sign, contact KTBC&G at keepthebruceclean@gmail.com. We will be ordering more signs for next season.
We welcome any new suggestions or ideas and would love to add YOU to our Litter Ambassador list!
Thinking of new ideas… Have you heard of “Litter Lotto”? It is a reducing litter program started in the UK that has been brought to Ontario by Georgian Bay Forever (GBF). Environmental activist, John Scott brought it to Canada and GBF has brought the initiative to the shores of Georgian Bay. While places from Parry Sound and around Georgian Bay take part, we need to get our Municipal Council on board to make it happen in Tobermory.
The “Litter Lotto” program allows you to win cash prizes by collecting trash. It is a free prize draw app where you upload a photo of yourself disposing of litter in a public bin to enter the contest. While not a direct payment for trash, it offers the chance to win local weekly and global monthly cash prizes by participating in this gamified cleanup effort! Do you think it is worth pursuing? Download the App.
For letter templates that can be sent to the Municipality OR email us if you think we should pursue the idea?
Once again, we thank you for a great season!
