SERVICE – WE ASSIST, NURTURE, SUPPORT

Our May meetings are always fairly light because our focus is on decorating for the Fashion Show, but we took a moment to make a donation to the REACH program. Perhaps many of the readers haven’t heard about the REACH Centre. It is located in downtown Owen Sound and provides programming for individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities. The registered charity offers programs on skill acquisition to foster independence for the participants. Kim Dawson accepted the donation to this wonderful organization.

The month of May was very busy for the Club but many hands make light work and we have a great team, so our events are also a time of fellowship and fun. We have more catering lined up for June and July, and we look forward to coming together for those duties.

We have a collective interest in having good healthcare close to home and that task requires continuous fundraising events. On June 20th, Rock the Bruce Checkerboard Challenge is an opportunity to help raise funds to maintain our quality care. Longy and Bruffer from 97.9 will be broadcasting live from The Shops at 84 Main in downtown Lion’s Head. This is a great opportunity to show your Bruce Peninsula spirit and the Peninsula SWANS, according to my sources, are the 1st service club to make a donation to the cause and we would like to challenge the other service clubs in the area – our donation is $1,000.00. We wish the Bruce Peninsula Hospitals Foundation continued success with their efforts.

As always, we welcome new members to the Club. If you would like more information, please contact Roberta Mielhausen at 519-374-4110.
